Mukteshwar is a popular hill station in Kumaon. It has a magical
enviornment which binds serenity and beauty. Amidst the canopy of conifer
forests and orchards , Mukteshwar sits
in the lap of The Himalayas and offer splendid view of enchanting
snow-clad peaks like Nanda Devi, Nanda Kot, Nandaghunti, Trishul and
Panchchuli in its
surroundings.
The legend says that the town is associated with Lord Shiva who
gave the blessings of immortality or 'mukti' to a demon He killed.
Mukteshwar was noticed by Jim Corbett,
the famous tiger hunter who fell in love with this beautiful mountain hamlet.
The town is unexplored home of apples, plum, peach and apricot trees.
Mukteshwar has an ancient Shiva Temple
of deity Mukteshwar at a
height of 2,315 meters. Other nearby places worth visting are Chauli
Ki Jaali, The Market Place, Sithla and Ramgarh.
Mukteshwar is a must visit site among the tourists surely.
