The
famous and The History Creator 'Uttarakahnd Andolan' was forgotten by none of us. Today we are in a state called Uttarakhand only because of the Andolan. The demand for a separate state was for better growth an development of the state, for the employment opportunities, for better living standards of the Uttarakahndis, for a bit easy life for the villagers. But do we think we got any of these? Yes, we got a lot Dams built and that unfortunately is the only sign of development in Utarakahnd state. Apart from this every step of the development have been in a mess. When Uttarakhand was the part of U.P, it was not focussed by the Government and there were no signs of development. Yes, the Uttarakhandis had to suffer and pay for that (
i guess still they do) but the state was as pure as it was a hundred years ago. The holy places were not picnic spots, the river banks were not educational institutes, the fields were not barren. We must admit that since the formation of Uttarakhand we only the Uttarakahnd only sinked further not grown. And the latest disasters have broken the already weak backbone. Only God knows when will Uttarakhand will see the glimpses of the Real Develeopment.
